The Benefits of Shipping Grains via Arctic Waters

The CCAPPTIA Team is helping Fair Ventures (the innovative initiative of Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.) (fairventures.ca) to analyze the carbon benefits of shipping grains from Canada to Turkey via the port of Churchill. It focuses on what the benefits are of shipping over more direct routes, especially with the impacts of heavy fuel ban on port of Churchill and the Emission Control Areas (ECAs). The outcomes will provide accurate assessments on the feasibility of Arctic waters as competitive future shipping routes.
